Rocco

Rocco, age 1

MATCHED

It only took a couple of weeks for Rocco’s foster family to decide there was no need to look for a forever home for him—they are adopting him themselves! Wouldn’t you like to foster, too? We’re always in need of places for more great dogs like this one!

Rocco and his brother Luca came to GRR after the third dog in the family decided he didn’t much care for the two young Goldens & took a few bites out of Luca. Their owner decided that, for the brothers’ safety, she had better relocate the gorgeous duo pronto! After a short stay at the vet for neutering , Rocco settled into his foster home. Here’s the report:

Rocco is a great dog. He’s absolutely wonderful & mild-mannered with kids and pretty calm for his age.He already walks well on leash – he pulls a little, but  that’s easily redirected with a little leash pressure. He adores grooming and likes to roll over on his back to get the full brush treatment.  You can just seem saying, “Aah! That feels great.” He is very good when he has a toy in his mouth; he likes to parade around and accept everyone’s praise for how beautiful he looks.

Rocco does have some rough edges, of course. He is not full house-trained yet and has had a few accidents, often when we are standing right next to him. Partly it seems to be nerves. We will keep working on this.

Maybe because of his recent traumatic experience living with an aggressive dog (when Luca was bitten,  both dogs were essentially pushed into the swimming pool by the attacking dog, and the owner had to fish them out!), Rocco has some issues with other dogs. He’s totally fine with our little Lhasa Apso, but he tends to bark and growl at other big dogs. We’ve noticed he seems a little skittish overall,  but we think that will improve with time.
