Sugar Bear

Sugar Bear and her son, Sugar Sammy, came to GRR from a loving owner who could no longer care for them. Mom and son are both BIG dogs, but the difference is that mom is about (gulp) 60 pounds overweight—she’s carrying about 130 pounds on a frame meant for a 70-pounder. Yow! It’s diet and exercise for this gal as she slowly makes her way down the scale. The vet was alarmed enough to say, “She won’t be able to go on too much longer if that weight doesn’t come off” – so you can bet we are taking her slimming program VERY seriously.

Sugar Bear is just as sweet as she is chubby, though—and that means she’s VERY sweet indeed. Since she arrived in rescue, her tail has not stopped wagging. For such a hefty girl, she has surprisingly good mobility, too – great news for increasing her activity as the weather cools down.

We always say that the tubby Goldens are project dogs of the nicest sort! It’s a thrill to watch them looking and feeling so much better and moving so much more easily as the pounds come off. Folks who want the sweetest companion ever and are committed to getting their new pal slim and trim and fit will want to put Sugar Bear at the top of their wish list!
