Remembered

Darwin comes to us from the Seguin area. He's a sweet and handsome fellow about 3 years of age. So far, we know he likes to ride in the car and loves people.

Darwin’s Diary

Dear Diary,

It's been a good weekend.   My foster mom showed up on Saturday in Seguin to take me home.   I was a little scared at first but I wanted to put my best paw forward so I showed her that I could settle into a long car ride just fine.   Then when we got to Austin they wanted to take my picture... I'm a pretty handsome guy so it was easy to get a good pose!  You think I can get on the cover of GQ?     Anyways, then I met my foster brother.  He's lots of fun and we wrestle a lot.   Shhhh, don't tell anyone, I let him win so he doesn't feel bad.  All I'd have to do is sit on him and I'd win paws-down!

We went on lots of walks and I stayed on my best behavior and showed mom how well I can walk on a leash.  No pulls, no tugs.   Actually I'm a little scared I'll lose my foster mom and brother so I walk really close to my foster mom's side.  I like to think I heel really well.

I do lots of things really well.  I know to only go potty outside.  I know that when we're at the dinner table, I should lay on the floor and not beg for food no matter how good the smells might be.  I know I should be gentle around the things in the house.  I know I shouldn't get up on the furniture ... ohhh but sometimes I want to get on mom's lap soooo bad that it's hard not to.   My paws are getting tired (this Internet thing is great!) and I hear a rumble in my tummy.... now where'd she put those snacks...

P.S. from Darwin:  My foster mom wanted me to add this.  I thought it was kind of sad especially to a happy dog like me.   But she offered me a treat so how could I say no?

Note from foster mom:  If Darwin had been my forever dog from day one and I had lost him, my heart would be breaking every day until I found him.  He's about as perfect as a Golden can be!  He loves car rides and settles in immediately, he knows his place is lying at your side while you peacefully eat at the table; he loves walks and just wants to be near you.  Just so full of love!  But he's not overbearing or annoying in any way.  And he gets along great with other dogs and shows no aggressive tendencies.  He loves his crate (or is it those Scooby-snacks that he gets for going in?).  Only eccentricities:  doesn't like to get out of a car at all and big bear hugs!   He's getting over jumping on people but if you sit down on the floor/ground with him, he's ready and willing to give you a big bear hug, gently of course.
