June 2006:    Max        Lago        Cooter        Reagan

Max (now Zeke)
Let me give you an update on Zeke. As you see, we have changed his name from Max. Since we brought him home in September, he has brought only joy to our family. We have a Dalmatian mix dog (Sunny) and a cat( Abby), and they both love him. Sunny and Zeke play together all the time.

Zeke is so smart! We have taught him some commands, and he learned very quickly. He loves the water, and since we don't have a pool, we drive to Bulverde and let him swim in a pond at a dog kennel there. We go there as often as possible. He also loves to go on walks. Every morning, Zeke and I walk 2 miles, and every night we walk another mile. Of course, Sunny is with us too.

Every Friday, I have a long day at the office, so Zeke comes with me. Everyone at work loves to pet him and play with him. One thing about him, is that he is so gentle. He never pushes people or jumps on them too hard. Also, he seldom barks. When I do hear him bark, he is talking to Sunny.

We are so lucky to have Zeke in our lives. He is part of our family and loved very much!!!

Subject: Lago Update

I thought I would give you an update on Lago

He is now known as Rocket and is doing his best to live up to his name. He darts about chasing balls and anything else that catches his attention.

He has been to the vet a couple of times. Once when we first got him just to check things out. And then a couple of weeks ago for a round of shots and heartworm test. He is a very healthy and happy little boy. We took him to the lake last week and he did exactly what he was made to do. He can swim like a champ.

Mazzie (our Border Collie) has warmed up to the idea of having another dog around. They can’t seem to get enough wrestling in and are never very far apart. It is very cute and entertaining watching them play together. He is learning that Monkey (our cat) has sharp things and does not like to play as much as Mazzie. He has stopped barking at the cat and just watches him out of curiosity.

Rocket started puppy training classes at PetSmart last week and is starting to catch on to some new things. His education will continue throughout the summer.

He is a great addition to our family.

Thanks for your help in making this possible.

One quick update on Cooter and a favor. Cooter has adjusted to his new life just fine. He still has an unending energy supply, but between the running and the squirrel chasing, we have managed to calm him a bit. Obedience school was something else, but he trained us just fine. He's improved tremendously on his manners and walking on a leash. He's a lot taller and sorry to say, all that wonderful soft puffy hair fell in one big "poof." We had wall-to-wall dog hair carpet for about three weeks. His hair is shorter and more manageable, and still softer than other goldens, specially around his face. We managed to get him to gain a few pounds and he's now lean and muscular. We should have called him Skidder, he always goes so fast he misses his mark and has to skid back. Hope you enjoy his picture.

06/28/2006;

Hi Everyone,

Well we are just about at the year mark with Reagan and I thought you would enjoy seeing how pretty she is and happy.

She is doing pretty good. She had a bout with the hair pulling this week, is a little weak in her legs and a bit incontinent but hey, what would you expect for a Granny? She is hanging in there and that's all that counts. I don't think she wants to give up the good eats and all the comfortable amenities of the Whitten Hilton.

I hope you enjoy her pictures as much as we enjoy having her in our lives each day.

Carolyn
