What a completely different story than his partner in crime Howser!
“Cute as a bug” as described by the GRR intake volunteer, this almost
miniature golden boy let his personality shine as soon as he became an official
GRR pup.
After spending a few weeks in foster care, his foster mom reports Doogie has
settled into living the life of a Gold Ribbon Rescue dog.
And though he may get his namesake from the famous 1990’s television character
“Doogie Howser” which showcased a teenage genius turned medical doctor, don’t
think this young pup is pursuing a career in medicine...the white pristine coat
and stethoscope wouldn’t last long after a romp out in the backyard!

This pup seems like the ideal companion: he loves to pounce around in the
backyard, but he somehow knows when to settle down. When lounging around in the
house, Doogie tends to find the comfiest snuggle spot in the room—so clean
freaks beware! You may find him
sneak on the couch when no one’s looking
J.
He sleeps through the night and
even through thunderstorms—Doogie wouldn’t let any of that racket disturb
him from snooze time. He’s too busy
dreaming of hopping squirrels and run away tennis balls.
His first few days in foster care, he suffered from a bout of countersurfing,
but his foster mom says Doogie hasn’t chomped on any tortillas (mmm…his
favorite!) or people food since then.
With a waggling tail and that signature golden grin, he loves being close to his
people whether children or adults.
While riding in the car, Doogie tries to squeeze his way into riding shotgun—but
after some coaxing, he lays down in the back and settles in for the ride. Doogie
tends to greet newcomers with a newly invented handshake called the “love
stretch” which tends to happen right on top of a guest’s bare knee cap. As you
can imagine, his foster mom is working with him teaching him “down.”
99% of the time, you can find Doogie with his best friend: the tennis ball. With
just any old toy, he prances around the house as if he’s won some great prize,
but with his real love (the tennis ball), he chomps on day and night. Every once
in a while, he might invite you to play if he plops the drool soaked ball on the
grass.

Though he is still skin and bones and covered in flea bites, Doogie’s skin is
gradually healing with a combination of a good diet and oatmeal soothing spray.
After attending a GRR event at a local dog park, his loving behavior and gentle
nature with both adults and children proves exactly how his foster mom feels:
“He’s quite the treasure and any family would be lucky to have him.”
