Sadie
#13-055 Sadie, age 6 months
20 lbs.
Available 9/1/13
Sweet Sadie has gotten settled in with her fosters and is enjoying the life of
being the baby in the family. As a young energetic pup, she is learning quickly
to adapt to her new environment with the attentive love and devotion of her
foster family.
Despite her fast transition from her last family who had to move overseas, she
was positive in moving on to the next chapter of her life. She readily hopped
into her transport car with no hesitation and was a good car rider as she got
ready to join her new foster family.
Upon joining her new family, Sadie has quickly learned to get along with her two
other four-legged doggie foster siblings. With positive reinforcement,
patience, and plenty of love, Sadie is learning to play nicely with the older
dogs, learning to share toys, and learning how to be a little “lady.” Sadie is
still learning on how to share her toys, so she will require an experienced
family that can positively reinforce good manners. In the past, Sadie has
proven to be great with children, and she is presently getting along well with
cats. Her potty training is coming along swell, and her fosters are happy to
report that she hasn’t had any accidents indoors since she has joined the
household. Sadie prefers to be around the hubbub of daily activity, so you
won’t see her in a crate. This high-energy pup with a bit of a stubborn streak
in her certainly knows how to play hard and sleep hard afterwards.
If Sadie could put her little furry paws on her puppy hips, she’d quote
Dirty Dancing and say, “Nobody puts
Sadie in a corner!” Until then, her foster family is continuing to teach her
the proper manners of a lady by working on her leash-walking and sharing skills.
Sadie is a petite little mix with Golden and Sheltie in her blood, so she is
expected to be smaller than your average Golden when she grows up. She will be
spayed near the end of August, so this little girl won’t be available until
September 1st. Keep an eye out for this pretty girl! She will do
great with a loving, experienced family and older dog that can show her the
rules and boundaries to be a great canine citizen as she grows up.

Guess who’s back?

This golden girl has had an eventful life in a very short time.
She’s quite the traveler as she first started her GRR journey down South.
After Sadie became a part of the Gold Ribbon Rescue family, her foster family
fell in love and just like that, we all thought Sadie’s wandering days were
over.
But as life’s circumstances would have it, a job change required her family to
quickly pack up all their belongings and head to Germany.
Moving to a new country is difficult enough, but try doing that with a
little pup!
So instead of buying a passport and a suitcase for little Sadie, the family
decided her traveling days were over.
No Weiner schnitzel or sauerkraut for this golden girl. For now, she’d
keep her four paws planted firmly in the big state of Texas.
Sadie’s been hanging out with her new foster family, adapting to the life of a
Gold Ribbon Rescue pup.
Just like all young pups, Sadie seems to resemble more of the Energizer bunny,
full of life and playfulness. And
just because she’s pint sized does not mean she can’t roughhouse with the rest
of her foster siblings. Tugging on
ears seems to be her specialty!
Described as having “attitude” from her veterinarian, Sadie tends to be a little
more hardheaded than most young pups. Though she hasn’t quite learned how to
fetch yet, her foster mom says if Sadie doesn’t want to let you have her ball, a
low grumbly sound comes out, her best attempt at producing a growl.
She also loves showing off her big girl attitude by playing “tug of war.”
And while Sadie remains in foster care, her foster family will continually work
with her on erasing some of those less desired puppy behaviors.
She has to learn how to take a treat
gently rather than nipping at it (and any innocent finger too), and she also
must learn how to walk nicely on a leash rather than looking more like a bull in
a china closet.
This little girl, though she may not be 100%, has just enough golden to make her
a water dog; Sadie just loves to splash around in the baby pool.
Since Sadie’s foster mom and veterinarian see a stubborn streak in her, they
both recommend Sadie go to a family with experience in training hardheaded pups.
She would also benefit from having an older pup to guide her along as she
learns the house rules.
Texas seems to be right where she feels at home.
So now that this loveable, high-energy pup is back on the market, she’s
waiting to go to her forever home—no more hitting the road for this gal.
It’s time for her unpack her bags and settle in—whoever adopts her will
be one lucky family!

MATCHED
This little blonde fluffball went looking for adventure in an open field down
south (where good retrievers love to sniff) and found Gold Ribbon Rescue in
Austin. The tiny explorer seemed well cared for—but an extensive canvassing of
all the neighborhoods backing up to the field didn’t turn up a single person
looking for her. No response to signs and ads, either. So we don’t know much
about her—but we do know what matters, namely that she’s pure puppy! Due to her
age, she isn’t completely housebroken yet, but she’s pretty good at letting you
know when she needs to go out.
Crate-training is going fine, too: she overnights in a crate & stays there when
no one is at home. She prefers not
to be left alone, though, and will let you know about it!

Sadie is a friendly, high-spirited puppy -- just a typical wiggly little girl,
learning how to sit and do all the other stuff puppies need to learn.
As you can see, she scores high on the Cuteness Scale
and wants to play with everyone.
As good luck would have it, a puppy family was waiting in the wings for a
youngster just like Sadie, so she’s all moved into her new home. We can’t wait
to hear about her further adventures as she grows up!
