Walking out her door one evening last week, the homeowner was taken aback to find a young Golden frisking around in her front yard. No collar or tags… night falling… she stashed him in her backyard for safekeeping & called GRR the next day. “He really seems like he’s looking for a way out,” she said. “I don’t trust him to stay put.” Inquiries around the neighborhood revealed that the young pup had been seen stray here & there for a while—but a microchip scan came up empty, and no owner came looking for him during his five-day hold at the shelter. And the fact that he’s quite underweight sure hints at a life lived largely on the streets for a while.
Why the name JJ? It stands for Jumping Jack! This fringy-eared boy
is a typical wild-man young Golden male. Bounces, jumps, pulls on lead. Not for
the first-time dog owner – but definitely a wonderful pet for an experienced
puppy family who likes the active, silly youngsters and is willing to provide
plenty of direction, exercise, and training.
At his foster home, JJ is playing well with his two Golden
brothers, ages 18 months and 6 years (though now that he’s just been neutered,
play dates are on hold for ten days!), and “he’s a happy guy who sleeps through
the night. He's a healthy eater, so it shouldn't take much time to get him up to
where his weight should be.”
