Hannah

#13-014 Hannah, age 5

AVAILABLE 2/16

Heartworm Positive

Have charm, will travel!

Many a stray dog depends on the kindness of strangers to bring her to a safe haven—and ever since she found herself out on the road for reasons unknown (to us, that is), Hannah has used her open, friendly Golden nature to make her way.

It was only about 3 weeks ago, shortly after the New Year began, when a motorist spotted Hannah wandering down the highway. There wasn’t a neighborhood in sight, so the kindly lady stopped & invited the traveler into her car. She’d planned to keep the gregarious stray, but quickly realized that she already had too many animals (other dogs, plus goats and chickens, too!). An ad on Craigslist followed and was instantly spotted by an alert GRR family—who, alarmed by “free to good home and MUST be placed by TOMORROW,” sprang into action and brought Hannah home for safekeeping. And a few days later, the trim 64-pounder became an official GRR dog.

Foster mom has only good things to say about Hannah – in fact, she says she is “just a dream dog. Sooo nice! Looks to have had a recent litter [note: Hannah had her spay surgery on January 31]. Doesn’t pull too bad on leash. Travels so nicely in the back seat—obviously a seasoned traveler! Gets along well with the other three dogs at the house. Even goes into the crate on her own for a nap.”

Hannah is an outgoing girl who can get wild & rowdy with her dog pals in the yard… but indoors, she’s the perfect calm lady. Foster mom’s only concern is that, when outside, Hannah does seem to be looking for an escape hatch (something we often see in strays): so her new family will need to be vigilant. You’ll need stout, secure gates and a tall fence, and above all, be sure to keep her company when she’s outside so she can’t add “Hannah Houdini” to her list of accomplishments.

We’ll be adopting Hannah out soon, and we’ll pay for her new family to take her through heartworm treatment at one of our vets. She’s as good as matched already!
