Last time you heard from me I was known as the “heavy girl.” Hurrrumph!I don’t appreciate that nickname one bit!A lady never discusses her weight in public.
Over the past weeks, I’ve become quite the queen of the house. Though I
may exhibit traits that qualify me as “high maintenance,” I am anything but
that.That is such a low-class
title anyways.I am both a princess
and a lady.
When my foster mom feeds me a treat for being the obedient girl I am, I
sit properly on my bottom. With my silky, black as night snout held high, I
gently take the treat from her fingers.I turn my heels from my mom with my happy tail sashaying back and forth
and, of course, lay down to enjoy my snack. A lady would never scarf down her
treat.
Since I am still a puppy, I am working on jumping less and sleeping
through the night.It’s quite
upsetting being away from my mommy Cinderella and so at night, I am only able to
peacefully sleep for about 4-5 hours. Then the “uh-ohs” awaken me from my slumber. After I let out a few tears, my foster mom comes to my rescue.
Though I have had a few unfortunate “uh-ohs” in the house, I would
never potty in my crate.A lady always demands perfect cleanliness in her boudoir. And sometimes, when my mom lets me play outside (which is where I am
supposed to potty), I forget about all my responsibilities when the cool spring
air ruffles my floppy ears. After a
while, she’ll let me inside and “uh oh.”But I am still a lady, and I know I will master pottying outside.
My foster mom feels that I am a bit headstrong, but I beg to differ;
“headstrong” seems so negative.I
feel “determined” sounds much more sophisticated and refined. My siblings are quite larger than I am, but I am determined to match them
step for step.Just because I am a
princess does not mean I can’t be brilliant
and beautiful in the process. In fact, it only took me two days to learn the house rules. But sometimes these big pups can become quite rambunctious, and dare I
say, a barbaric, bunch.If they
knock me over while they wrestle around, my squeal of annoyance is made loud and
clear.
The other day, I began climbing on my sibling’s back, because of course,
a lady never goes down without a fight, and he snapped at
me—a princess! Can you believe the nerve of such a brute!Like a fire alarm, I responded in kind by yelping my most heart-wrenching
and blood curdling cry which of course had my foster mom run to my aid. Though
they began checking for a wound, I just smiled my puppy smile and welcomed all
the attention.
Notes
from foster mom:
Because Pocahontas still a young pup, she is learning new things every day
including walking on a leash. Foster mom says Pocahontas needs to be in a very
active household with lots of toys, other dogs, kids, and/or cats. She is very curious and wants to play with foster mom’s cat but is very
good with letting him have his space.
