If the glass slipper fits, wear it! Cinderella is proving herself a true
princess in her foster home.
“I can't say enough about this gal and how perfect she is!
She does not counter-surf or get up on furniture. She is housetrained.
She loves to play with my dogs and run out back chasing the ball. To see her
transforming into a happy, carefree dog has been wonderful!
It's so satisfying to see her wagging her tail when she is getting loved
on.”
Cinderella is a busy Golden these days: putting on weight (her ribs don’t show
as much now), tending to her brood (and enjoying her “grown-up time” away from
the pups, too!), resting up (she sleeps soundly all night long) and getting
healthy. Like any good momma, she is protective of her babies and will give the
other dogs a low growl if they get too near—but away from the puppies, she’s
happy to be a playful young dog with her new friends. Foster mom adds, “She is a
hurdler! If you put up baby gates
she will jump them or knock them down.
She definitely wants to roam around the house.”
Beautiful Cinderella is little more than a puppy herself, and once her Royal
Family is adopted out (they’ll be ready to go on February 16), she’ll be waiting
for that forever home who can help her get healthy & strong & heartworm free.
Update: 01/31/13
Prince William? Princess Kate? Royal babies, possibly twins?
Who needs all that gossip & speculation about the British crown
when Austin is hosting some REAL royalty right this minute, and never mind about
(potential) twins, WE have (real live) sextuplets!
The exciting Royal Visit entered the planning stages less than 24 hours before
the guests arrived, when we got word that Princess Cinderella had appeared at a
local shelter with her family in tow. The brown-eyed beauty with ravishingly
long, silky ears and a sweet smile is also painfully skinny – all of her energy
has been going to feed her six pudgy babies (five girls, one boy). “Momma
is as sweet as she can be,” reported the somewhat flustered “hotel” staff
(it’s not every day a Royal appears at the reception desk, not to mention seven
of them!). “The
person who drove
them here said they found her a month
ago and decided today that they couldn't afford her
any longer. I feel so bad for this girl. The
pictures do not show how thin she is. Please let us know if there is anything
you can do to help.”
With their soft, silky fur and short tadpole tails, the pups are
adorable already, and they’ll only get cuter! And we know there’s half a Golden
in each and every one of them. They seem very comfortable with lots of human
handling and cuddling already, and they’ll be ready for their new families in
just a few weeks. More news to come.
