Arriving at the abandoned home to “trash it out” prior to bank auction, the group of workers found the usual rubbish and other debris strewn about – and something rather UN-usual, too. Sheltering in the backyard was a  terribly skinny Golden mom, along with her eight chubby mixed-breed pups. Neighbors said they’d seen her now and again only after the home was empty, and the pups were almost weaned, so either little Noelle had accessed the yard as a secluded place to keep her family safe, or a former owner had abandoned the group there, knowing the house was unoccupied.

However she came to be where she was, it was no place for her to be living!

The boss, a dog-lover himself, collected mom & pups and shuttled them to a safe, warm home. The eight strapping pups (boxer mixes?) were soon placed—which left just Mama Dog needing a home. Could GRR take her? No problem! In fact, volunteer Kathy sprinted out to nab her the very day the Hotline call came in, then made a spirited drive to the clinic, getting Noelle checked into her kennel just before closing time. Whew! “She loaded up right away & rode calmly, so she is experienced about car travel. She’s familiar with the leash, too. Sweet, gentle little Golden. Got along well with little kids & two indoor cats in her temporary home.”

What Noelle needs now, above all, is good chow and plenty of it – she’s so thin you can count every rib. In fact, she’s so underweight that the vet is holding off on vaccinations and spay surgery until there’s a little more meat on those bones. Amazingly, she doesn’t have heartworms (hooray! A pleasant surprise for sure.).

Noelle has just moved into her foster home, and we look forward to hearing about her further adventures soon!
