Lady
#12-151 Lady, age 10
AVAILABLE SOON![]()
“What a good girl!” That about sums up this seniorish
sweetie pie.
Lady had at least two former owners prior to arriving in
GRR care. Rumor has it (according to the second, surrendering owner) that Lady’s
first owner of many years trained her as a search-and-rescue dog; but when she
had to move into a small apartment, she couldn’t bring her dog, too. Enter the
second owner, who had Lady for just about 2 1/2 years—at which point he and his
family moved out of state on very short notice, just in time to call GRR intake.
He admitted she hadn’t been to the vet the whole time they’d had her, and they’d
let her training slide after acquiring another puppy. So Lady was long overdue
for her shots—and heartworm positive, to boot.
Other than these health issues and a little limp
attributed to arthritis, she’s kinda perfect! Lady is on the small side but
stocky and sturdy. And she doesn’t come when she’s called because she’s very
deaf. This doesn’t appear to bother her – unlike other deaf dogs who startle
easily when you “sneak up” on them.
We’ve only had Lady a week, but I already know some of
the things she LOVES:
* Car rides
* Brisk walks in the cool air
* Cozy corners
* Little kids
* Treats & food
Things she can take or leave:
* Other dogs
* Cats (ho hum)
* Toys & balls
All things considered, this little Lady is not a tramp,
but a honey!
