Spritzer

Spritzer,  age 2

WEIGHT: 68 pounds

MATCHED

Update 10/22/12:

Over the past several years, we have received many a wonderful dog from a shelter way, way down south, nearly at the Mexico border, so when an e-mail from the director arrived on October 1 with an attached photo of two bouncy young male dogs, we at once began to make intake plans. “They are real friendly and playful. Just happy kids. We had fun getting their pics. Very social boys,” read the note. She added, “We have some girls that I need to get pics of as well. I didn’t have time to hit our females section today in getting pics of the rescue kids but will do so tomorrow.” Sure enough, the next day pictures of three pretty girl Goldens came bouncing through. OK, time for the foster home hunt—we had just five days before FIVE young Goldens would come rolling up from the Valley! Intake director Jacki sprang into action—and on Saturday, October 6, the Golden group arrived in San Antonio for chipping and transport to waiting families.

The line-up: three blonde girls, all about aged 2 – Champagne, Chardonnay, and Spritzer; and the two boys, red-headed Merlot (about 1 year old) and caramel-colored Darnell, about age 3. Incredibly, all five are heartworm negative!

Sweet Spritzer is already matched to her forever home! Here’s more about her:

“The name suits her perfectly. She’s light and bubbly,” said our transport volunteer of this pretty girl. To that we might add: not pop-the-cork bubbly, just softly fizzy! Her foster mom describes her as sweet, very gentle, calm… happy and tail-waggy around kids, other dogs, and just people in general.  “She bumps you  lightly with her nose or her rear to get more attention. Rolls right over to have her belly rubbed. Jumps up very gently just occasionally. She DOES get excited about the car, rides in the back and does fine; and for all she’s so calm indoors, she can PULL on the leash when she is checking out new things!”

We don’t know Spritzer’s history, of course, but it seems that she must have lived indoors; she hasn’t had one accident and is reliable loose in the house when nobody is home.

.

Though it does seem that Spritzer has a calm temperament overall, it’s also the case that she is being treated for a tick-borne disease that is likely sapping her energy a bit. We’ll see just how much fizzier she gets as time goes on and she starts feelilng 100% healthy!
