Trixie, age 4

AVAILABLE

Update 9/27/12:

Petite twinkle-toes Trixie came to us from a loving owner who could no longer keep her. In her original home, her best pal was a six-year-old boy, so we know she’s good with kids. And cats, too—she lived with one before, and in her foster home, she shows some interest in her two feline “siblings,” but she doesn’t chase them. Other dogs: “Initially she was overwhelmed by our boys & gave them the old lip curl/soft growl treatment, but by the next day she had settled down & now she plays happily with young Rodeo. She also greets other dogs nicely on our walks (as long as there’s only one dog at a time!).”

Trixie does not care for the crate—in fact, she had to be hoisted into it—and after a few days, her foster family just decided to let her have free run of the house. She’s done very well.

Though she does jump up when she’s excited (first thing in the morning, when she knows she’s going for a walk), Trixie is generally nice & calm indoors. And she does love those walks! If walked with the other dogs, she pulls a lot, but on her own she’s much more sedate—unless she spies a squirrel!!

Trixie’s foster mom says, “I have zero concerns about this dog! She’s still young enough to really enjoy her playtime so another playful dog would be good for her. An active family who would walk/jog with her would be great. She’s on the small side, so an older couple would be fine as long as they walk her  regularly.”
