Khloe

Khloe, age 8 months

MATCHED - FOSTER PEND ADOPT

Cute Khloe is already matched up to her new home, but we like to give all our GRR dogs a spot on our website! So here’s her story:

Right at the end of August, a nice young man appeared at the shelter with an 8-month-old Golden in tow & filled out the paperwork. “I’ll be having my brother come to stay and he is allergic to dogs. Also, I’ve been trying to keep her in my apartment since I got her, but she barks when she is left alone all day, and I already have two noise complaints, and if I get one more I’ll be kicked out. So she has been boarding at the Pet Hotel for a month now.”

But instead of completing the intake: “We are bursting at the seams! Don’t surrender her here,” implored the shelter staff. “Please call Gold Ribbon Rescue instead.”

He did, and that’s how Khloe became a GRR dog the next day. Meanwhile, we looked over her shelter information card:

Dog's Name: Khloe

Dog's Age: 8 months old.

Two things you like about the dog: Playful, and cute.

Two things you dislike about the dog: She barks when she's alone, and she is sometimes messy.

Around children, this dog is: Relaxed or affectionate

Around other dogs, this dog is: Relaxed or affectionate

What is this dog's activity level? High activity

Which of the folowing describes this dog? Mark all that apply: Playful, affectionate, confident, excitable and friendly

Reaction when someone touches food bowl, toys or treats: Friendly; isn’t bothered

Sounded pretty normal to us… in fact, those personality traits sound pretty great. As for the “dislikes”: (1) At such a young age, Khloe would automatically be placed in a puppy home where people are around much of the time (that should address the excess “I’m lonely!” barking problem); and (2) as for “sometimes messy,” well, welcome to life with dogs!

Her foster mom announced, “She’s nearly perfect. No worries.” Khloe loves to play with other dogs but can calm down and settle at your feet, too. In typical puppy fashion, she likes to bring toys to her canine and human friends, to try to get a nice game of tug going! She’s fine with cats; she’s outgoing with people. “She’s very well socialized and happy being an inside dog.”

In fact, just as soon as she recovered from a case of kennel cough and had her spay surgery, Khloe moved right into her permanent home!
