Sophie
Sophie, age 4 1/2
AVAILA
“Any room for this sweet Golden gal? She is HW NEG &
possibly spayed already. We will have a trip set up to SAT this Saturday so let
me know.”
There’s always room for another Valley Girl! Miss Sophie is the
fifth dog this year to come motoring up from points far South – and she’s also
dog #100 for our Gold Ribbon Rescue year. Appropriate, because she scores a
perfect 100% on the personality front! “She is so sweet.
Hoped into the tub and loved her bath,” said our transport volunteer.
“She is totally adorable. Fell in love with her.”
On the health front, Sophie doesn’t get an “A” grade yet, but she’s
working on it! Shortly after arriving in town, she came down with a cough that
got worse before it got better – maybe kennel cough, maybe a different
respiratory infection? She’s just about done with her antibiotics and feeling
better now – so she should be able to resume going for walks, an activity she
really enjoys. Walks do need to be easy & relaxed, though, as this gal is also a
bit stiff in her back end – maybe the start of a little arthritis? She has
another vet visit slated soon & we may start her on various joint meds to help
with that.
Sophie is a calm, gentle Golden who just loves to be near people &
is happy “chilling out” with other dogs, too (she’s not interested in playing
with them, just wants to keep them company!). She loves grooming & petting. She
enjoys her meals and does a cute little excited growl/warble as the food dish is
being prepared. And now that she’s getting over her cough/cold, that tail is
starting to wag more and more!
This lovely girl would do well in a quiet or moderately active
household, with or without other dogs. Gentle strolls every day are a must to
keep Miss Sophie flexible (and she loves the outings, too). The perfect family
will be one looking for a furry companion who’ll hang out beside them as they
watch TV, work at the computer, read a book, cook dinner… you get the picture!
