Update 8/8/12:

Sunset is a very active five year old. She actually spent a few days with one of our volunteers back in February before she came to GRR, when she escaped from her yard—so we already knew she was a nice gal! Her background includes one of the typical reasons Goldens get surrendered to us: an owner who realized that she needed more time than he could give her.  As a result, she was getting bored – and you know what they say about idle minds! – so she was doing some digging in the backyard.  

Sunset is a great gal!  She’s nice and petite, and just great with kids including little ones. No chickens, though, please! (Unless they come between two buns with a little tomato on top!)  Displaying her hunting prowess as a retriever, she has nabbed a few feathered friends at her current home.

Sunset is an adventurous gal who loves to swim and go on runs.  She is a great dog for an active family.  She is wonderful with cats and other dogs.  If a cat or dog around her is acting out, she ignores them until they calm down.  Be forewarned though – her retrieving prowess includes counter-surfing, so she needs to be watched during mealtime (else you may lose that chicken between two buns with a little tomato on top!).  She dislikes being crated and is happy to wander around our home and take naps while we are gone.  She is patient with children and always ready to play!

This lady is an absolute pleasure to be around!  (notice that she'll even find the notorious missing sock after the laundry gets done!)
