Cosmo
Cosmo, age 6
AVAILA
It was July 20
when 6-year-old Cosmo showed up at the shelter. Its a story we’ve heard before:
new girlfriend/boyfriend who doesn’t believe in indoor dogs; life-long indoor
Golden relegated to the backyard; predictable issues with digging, barking,
fence-jumping, loneliness, or all of the above; and owner realizing that dog
deserves a whole lot more. Luckily we found out about Cosmo about 15 minutes
after he was dropped off & were able to bail him out pronto.
This sturdy guy
is good with other dogs, cats (he used to live with four of them!), and
children. “Cosmo is a SWEETIE,” says his foster mom. “He's healthy, just has a
little bit of pudge to lose; the vet suggested getting an inch off all over his
tummy. (More green vegetables, less kibble of a higher-quality brand, more
walks—and slimming down should present no problems!) I think he'll be great
anywhere--good with kids, good with or without dogs. He plays with our young
dogs sometimes, but he is also happy to just be around people. He's not too
needy, but is affectionate. The only problem is that he’s a stinker about trying
to dig under the fence! Must be a holdover from his time spent alone in the
yard. Just as I thought he’d lost interest in it, I caught him with his hiney
sticking out from under the fence.”
So we’d say that
Cosmo’s new family must be very careful NOT to leave him in the yard without
supervision for even a short time, at least not until he finally figures out
that he doesn’t need to go out roaming to find interest in life! But overall,
“He’s a sweetheart. He’s calm and laidback. He likes to sit on your lap – or try
to! He’s just a really nice, well-balanced dog.”
