Motley

Motley age: 6 months

MATCHED - FOSTER PEND ADOPT

Update 7/21/12:

When finder Beth first spotted the Golden pup roaming loose in a parking lot, she automatically looked around for an owner. Surely the dog had just jumped out an open car door and zipped away? Surely someone was chasing her? But nobody around seemed to have any idea where little Motley had come from… and she wasn’t wearing a collar or dragging a leash. “Well, then, I guess you’re coming with me!” thought Beth. First stop was the clinic, just in case Motley was microchipped (she wasn’t). A quick exam, an anti-flea pill, a bath, and a hop on the scales (32 pounds!), and Motley motored home with Beth, who promptly began investigating where the little dog might go—because inquiries to local vet clinics and checks of newspaper listings over the next few days didn’t turn up anyone looking for a lost 6-month-old Golden.

… and so, on July 16, Motley became an official GRR dog. She may be delicate, dainty and petite in appearance, but Motley definitely has  a full-size personality. While still with Beth, “she  taught herself, or learned from my dog Sassy, to use the pet door.  She definitely needs to understand ‘no.’  I'm trying, but she's having more fun doing things her way! [Ha! Sounds like a Golden all right.] Each day more of her real self comes out.  I hope her foster home is ready for a live wire.  Today she learned how to get on the sofa, which is obviously more comfortable for a nap than a dog bed.  I'm afraid I'm spoiling her a bit, but she’s so smart it won’t take her long to master new house rules. I'm sure her new family will love her and delight in her antics. Without a doubt she will give them her complete heart and soul. She is going to make a wonderful pet!”
