Grams, age 8
AVAILA
Well, they call me
“Grams,” but I’m not sure why, because I don’t act old—just mature, as in
delightfully calm! As you can see in my picture, I am sporting about 50% of a
summer haircut… well, that was because I was having a really bad hair day when I
was picked up stray. And I mean REALLY bad, because the shelter actually ID’d me
as a boy. But no! I am 100% girl and 100% SWEET! And once my hair grows back I
will be absolutely stunning.
Right now I am hanging out
with two other Goldens and a cat. The dogs really want me to play, but for right
now I’m just luxuriating in being in a nice, clean, calm, comfy home and that’s
enough for me. I might come around and play with them soon, though, because they
seem really nice. I do already have great manners, if I may say so myself: I
don’t jump on people, I am housebroken, I wasn’t afraid of the thunder that I
heard this morning, and I get along with everyone. Now all I need is a home to
call my very own, with a family who will love me. If you’re looking for a
charming serene lady and you have lots of love to give, then give my people a
call!
EDITOR’S
NOTE:
Sweet and petite at
just 52 pounds (about the right weight for her), Grams seems to have got stuck
in or rolled in something terribly sticky – all the fur on her back half was so
matted, clumpy and stiff that the vet had no choice but to shave it all down to
the skin, hence the drastic “poodle” cut. She was jumping with fleas, too, and
now that she’s close-clipped you can see all the marks where they bit her. Never
mind! The fleas are eradicated and the fur will grow back soon. As you see from
her foster mom’s report above, she’s already quite the accomplished lady, and we
can add to the above that she rides great in the car—mostly lies down but pops
her head up every now and again to say hello. This beautiful older girl has a
heart murmur, but “no action required,” says the vet. “Just let her new vet know
about it.” Once she’s had a chance to settle in for a couple of weeks, Grams
will be available for adoption—probably by the beginning of July.
