Jack

Jack, age 3

MATCHED - Heartworm Positive

Update 5/28/12:

Update 5/25/12:

“This dog is a beauty! He is a relatively small blond about 3 years old, just a tad skinny at 58 pounds.  Typical GR personality, lots of energy and friendliness. He just completed his 72-hour stray hold. Here’s what puzzles me. He looks like he just came from a groomer. He smells great and has fluffy fur with no mats. He’s been fed properly because he’s about the right weight. This is definitely somebody’s Golden… yet nobody came to claim him.”

That was the initial report on Jack, a handsome vanilla-blond stray who was whisked out of the shelter on Friday, May 18th. He went to the clinic for his neuter surgery the following Monday—where we also discovered that he’s positive for heartworms, unfortunately. Now he’s back at his temporary foster home, and his foster dad reports:

Brought Jack home this evening.  He’s has confirmed my initial assessment that he is an absolute doll!  He’s very obedient, gets along very well with my pack, and loves all people.  I haven’t given him a “cat scan” yet but he’s probably good with cats as well. If it wasn’t for the heartworms he would be a perfect dog—well, ALMOST perfect! Right now he’s busy marking whatever he can, but he’s clearly been an outside dog! He’ll be easy to housetrain: he seems smart and confident.  He’s not crazy about the crate, but he will learn to live with it.

Check out the pics.  Redheaded Penny is the only one of my pack I can let out with Jack, because she doesn’t run around and want to party!  All the rest of our pack would initiate a big rumble fest and Jack would love to join right in.

I can’t say enough good things about Jack. Whoever gets this dog will be one lucky family! Matchmakers: Please get him outta here before I keep him!  Only crazy people have 6 dogs!

NOTE: Jack will likely have completed his heartworm treatment by August or thereabouts. If you would like to adopt him before then and take him through the treatment, please let us know and we’ll tell you all about it!
