HELLO!!!!!!  I'm Max! I'm a spunky, blond 6-year-old Golden Retriever. Even though I am considered “mature,” I am very energetic, so you might mistake me for a 4-year-old. Or a 3-year-old!

I am very obedient.  I know COME, SIT, and LIE DOWN, and I am working on ROLL OVER. I love people of all ages.  My foster family (there are six of them—two adults and four kids) have taken me to the park, to the school, and around the neighborhood and I have done excellently well in all situations.  In all these places I have encountered other dogs—and although I am a bit timid and do a low growl to try and let those dogs know who’s boss, I quickly get over it and go to my owners and tell them I'd just rather hang out with them.  ( I really like people... have I mentioned that?)

I came from a family who really loved me, but unfortunately the kids were allergic to me.  So, I spent a lot of time in the yard.  Occasionally I might try to dig, but if you remind me that I shouldn’t get into excavating, I'll stop!

I love my toys! My most favorite game is "keep away.”  Sometimes I like to chase a ball or frisbee. The kids in my foster family have taught me a new game, too. It’s called “follow the leader”: they run and carry my toys around the house and I follow them.  But I know how to be gentle and not run them over.

My foster mom sent a letter to some friends telling them about me, and this is what she said:

“His personality is sweet, playful, happy. Loves to play and loves to cuddle. He wags his tail a lot. He rarely barks; will sleep in his crate but prefers not to. Walks OK on leash and can go for about 30 minutes; any longer and he lies down! Gentle enough on the leash that our 11-year-old has walked him twice.  No jumping, no stealing (except for the occasional sock), no counter-surfing, no getting on furniture (except for our outdoor picnic table). Very little begging. Hasn’t tried to eat our bird! Great with the kids... will play ‘follow the leader’ where they run around and he prances along with them. "

In short, I am an all-around great Golden!  If you are looking for a peppy lovebug companion then I'm your guy!  Can't wait to meet you!!
