Jill

 Updated 4/4/12

Jill, age 4 /12

AVAILABLE

Jack and Jill went up the hill to fetch a pail of water;

Jack fell down and broke his crown, and Jill came tumbling after…

… but luckily, she tumbled directly into GRR care! Doubtless her well-padded form also allowed her to roll smoothly and spare any cracks to her clever noggin!

This 4 1/2-year-old redhead arrived healthy, happy, and housebroken. She’s trustworthy loose in the  house, but her foster mom is crate-training her, too. She’s a super  car companion, just lies right down and enjoys the trip. She hadn’t had much experience with leash-walking, though—started out pulling like a train! “Now she is pulling some. We’ll continue to train her.”

Miss Jill likes to run and play chase, and she’s happy to retrieve a ball—and give it back to you, too! (Stuffies she parts with a little more reluctantly; she likes to chew them up.)  If you tell her to settle down, she calms down quickly  and lies on the floor, or sits beside you and places her paw on your lap.

One thing we’ve observed about this plump gal is that she doesn’t seem to know how to greet or treat small dogs like chihuahuas; it’s almost as if she thinks they’re toys and tries to love-bite and paw at them. She doesn’t seem to realize that she must be extremely gentle with such tiny dogs. Bigger dogs would probably be fine, but we’d say a home with no tiny dogs would be best for her; we’re protecting our five chihuahuas from her advances.

Pretty Jill enjoys being brushed and having a pedicure. She tries to be very good!  She is constantly looking to you for guidance on what you want her to do.  She wants to be good & she IS good. She’d be a great addition to a family who enjoys a companionable girl & who is committed to continuing her diet & exercise regime. That won’t be hard as Jill does enjoy her walks!
