Jesse

Jesse, age 3

Update 12/8/11

Gentle and easygoing, this lanky 2-year-old was found stray south of Austin and taken in by a small rescue group. When a month went by and they hadn’t yet found the perfect home for him, they called GRR. “He’s been living in a kennel at a boarding place all this time and we really want to get him into a home. He’s so laidback and adaptable; nothing seems to annoy him! He seems like he would be a great therapy dog.”

In his foster home, Jesse is working on strengthening his muscles (long confinement had weakened his back end a bit) and adding a few pounds. “He does beg for food, and after finishing dinner, he picks up his dish in his mouth and sets it down gently in front of me —just so I know it’s empty, and he would like more please!” (Who could resist his request when he makes it in such a charming way?) He’s healthy overall, though he did have terribly dirty ears; daily cleaning is helping there.

He does tug a bit on leash, then settles. And he loves his squeaky toys and won’t drop them easily, though of course there is no growling at all involved!

Jesse sleeps peacefully through the night, and he’s housebroken… he clearly belonged to someone, once. Anyone who wants a kind, soft-natured, all-around nice dog will be thrilled with Jesse!
