Priscilla, update 11/21
Priscilla is doing well! She sends this report, care of her foster family:
My name is
Priscilla and my foster parents think I’m a sweet little angel girl!! When I
first arrived here, I was afraid of
EVERYTHING!! Noises, going in and out of doors, new people—I had to be coaxed
in and out of the house and would hide under the dining room table if I was
inside, or on a small deck if I was outside. My tail was always curled up
underneath me as far as it could go. I must admit, so many changes in my life so
fast had me pretty confused and uncertain.
….But it didn't take long for me to start feeling safe
and comfortable, especially with the help of Cooper, my Golden foster brother.
I'm still skittish about some things, but now I greet every morning with a
wagging tail and a cuddle. I LOVE to cuddle on the couch or in bed and like to
be close to my foster mom, especially when she pets me so softly. I have
several spots throughout the house where I like to rest during the day, on a
couch in the sunroom or in the tall grass outside. I'm very calm, sweet, loving
and almost never make a sound.
As you can see, I'm a little thing. About 30 pounds and
so far my appetite isn’t too big. Sometimes my foster mom has to hand-feed me my
dog food! Maybe my last home just scraped the table scraps into my dog dish,
because I like to go after “people food” left within my reach on the counter or
coffee table—but I listen well when they
my family tells me “no.” I don't really like being on a leash much,
but I'm slowly learning how. We’ve
been on a few car rides and I don't prefer that mode of travel! I get
carsick and salivate a lot, but I'm trying to get used to that too. My foster
folks are dressing me up in a chic and form-fitting “Thundershirt” before rides
and that does seem to help me feel more secure. Baby steps every day!
I can't wait to find my forever home and hope that
someone with lots of love and affection wants to adopt me, ‘cause I would rather
be snuggling than doing anything else. I would also prefer a quiet place and if
I could have a big yard to trot around in & relax in that would be nice too.
And I love to learn from the other Golden here... he is very sweet and
sometimes we even play. So another nice, understanding dog would be a bonus.
I'm so glad to be in a safe place now and am becoming a more confident puppy
every day.
