When Maggie’s owner was diagnosed with health troubles that made it impossible for her to care for her young Golden Retriever, her folks stepped in to help—and added Maggie to their busy household. It turned out to be just a little too much! With full-time jobs, children, and three other family dogs, they were already stretched pretty thin—and Maggie hadn’t had much socializing at her first home. She was overwhelmed, and that made her “too wild,”  said her new caretakers. She jumped up, ran around, and generally stirred things up. “She needs more one-on-one  attention,” they said. Our GRR evaluator agreed 100 percent: “She’s a beautiful Golden. With more companionship and attention she’ll be a wonderful pet. She loves affection and loves children. She is smart, and I don’t think it will take long at all for her to become very well behaved.”

And so far it’s working out great! Sweet, petite Maggie has just settled into her foster home, and the early report couldn’t be better:

Maggie is doing wonderfully. She just loves to meet new people and collect all the love and pets that she can. She may have been attention starved previously, but she's getting all the attention that she can handle now! She’s gorgeous, with feathery and soft fur. She
went on a short walk yesterday and even met another GRR golden! She is very submissive towards both people and other dogs.

She is still a little uncomfortable as she recuperates from her spay surgery & has had one accident in the house, but we’re not worried about that. Soon she'll get used to her new bathroom routine. She may have been crated or used a doghouse in the past, because she like to hang out under our coffee table! I haven't set up the crate yet because her inside behavior has been very good. Seeing how much she likes to squeeze into small nooks and crannies around the house, I think she may actually like having a crate that she can go in
and out of.

More details to come!
