Pattie

Pattie: age 2

AVAILABLE ~ 9/21

Updated

Pattie was definitely somebody's “Goldie Girl” --   she is very at ease in the house.  Only one tinkle accident the first day when one of her foster parents didn't “read” her trip to the back door soon enough.  (She doesn’t bark or paw, just stands and gives a significant look outside. You have to be observant!)

She loves her dog couch as well as ours... Yep, she's right at home on the furniture and we're teaching the command "off" quickly.  She's full of unconditional Golden love and thinks she's a lap dog...  will cuddle anytime, anywhere. Again, we're working on "off" for the jumping up “love hugs.” Pattie is learning that there’s plenty of petting to be had with all four paws on the floor!

Pattie loves to play and her favorite game is Chuck-It with the tennis balls.  She will retrieve and most of the time surrender the ball.  We're working on “give.”  When Pattie gets tired & hot she heads for the pool & “chills out” on the first step to rest up for the next round.  Definitely still a lot of puppy here!  Oh, did I mention she loves stuffies, rope pulls, and even an extreme Kong BUT, she destroys them... it’s that puppy thing.  Surprisingly she has not chewed anything in the house & we have gated her in the laundry room and left up to 4 hours.

Such a good girl!  At night she walks right into the crate and sleeps as long as we do without a peep.  She needs to work on walking on a leash but she can run beside the golf cart on a leash and  loves it..  She's met the neighbor's dogs and seems fine.  We'll make some doggie play dates and really test this out some more in the next few days.  She also seems to like children and anyone who is willing to play and give pets.

Pattie does have a skin rash on her tummy, so we’re treating that. We are not sure whether it’s a food allergy or a contact reaction to something she got into?

With her good manners, gentle disposition, beautiful red coat, long legs, light golden brown eyes and willingness to please and learn, Pattie is the complete  Golden package and will be a wonderful addition to some lucky family.  (Pictures will follow as soon as we learn how to do it!)

“Goofy, sweet disposition, a bit mouthy—and did I mention she jumps up on you to give you love?? Once we got her to the play yard she found a ball and went crazy.”

Yes,  Pattie is a typical young Golden girl! We don’t know how she wound up stray, but it sure does seem like she belonged to someone. She seems to be housebroken (she didn’t potty in her kennel, and waited to go outside before doing her business); she was already spayed; and she is heartworm negative. Her Petfinders posting listed her color as a very  glamorous “red/golden/orange/chestnut,” and now that she’s bathed and starting in on high-quality food, she should soon have a L’Oreal-ad-worthy coat!

Pattie has just moved into her foster home, so stay tuned for more details as we get to know her better.
