Julie Belle

Julie Belle , age 3 1/2

AVAILABLE SOON

This delightful little redhead came to GRR when her owner could no longer care for her. Plump and healthy, she’s “a great dog and quite beautiful,” says her foster dad. A brief marriage to a standard poodle resulted in ten Goldendoodle pups in January of 2010—but once the pups were handed over to the custody of new families, Julie happily resumed her single life, though she and her ex-husband remained on cordial terms. Needless to say, she’s fine with other dogs -- in her foster home, she’s been quick to fit into the pack. (In the photo, that’s Julie on the right and her foster sister Penny on the left.)

Julie grew up living largely outdoors, but now that she’s inside, she hasn’t had a single accident. If she needs to use the facilities, she makes it clear that you need to let her out the door.

More details from her foster home:
Had never been walked before!  But on her very first walk, she did great.  No pulling at all (I used a harness so she couldn’t wiggle free). She can't go far because she is a chunky monkey! Needs to lose about ten pounds.

Chases cats but is learning quickly that inside cats are off limits in our house.  I let her go free in the house with the cats out and about.  No problems (but we're extra careful).

Julie’s very good in the car, likes to look out the window. She knows how to retrieve; will bring the ball back and release it. She’s very food motivated, but she knows not to sniff around another dog’s bowl until he or she walks away. Sleeps all night in her crate, and we may let her free at night once we trust her more with the cats.

This girl loves grooming! In fact, she loves any attention she can get.  Previous owner says she is great with kids of all ages, and  I believe it; I bet kids would be great.  Other dogs would be fine.  Inside cats would be fine.  Really any home where she can get lots of attention and will exercise her.

Julie will have her spay surgery this week, and she’ll be ready to adopt about 10 days after that. By the time her fourth birthday rolls around (on October 14) we fully expect she’ll be all settled into her forever home!
