TeddyBear

TeddyBear, age 1

AVAILABLE SOON

When we spotted this cutie-pie at a local shelter, he already had an adoption application on him, so we signed on as back-up… not really expecting that the handsome young fellow would become a GRR Golden. But after just a day or two in his new home, the shelter called to tell us he’d been returned: “They said the people brought him back because their two chihuahuas (!) were being aggressive to him and he was being submissive.”  A big dog who doesn’t fight back against a tiny one? Sold!! As far as we’re concerned that’s ideal.

In his foster home, sweet Teddy Bear was a little too hormonal at first! “He thought his job was to act like a stud dog with EVERYONE (and everyTHING, including chairs and ottomans!), which caused a little consternation among the other dogs.” However, now that he’s had his neuter surgery, he’s bound to become a little less “forward.” But he DOES love other friendly dogs, especially if they want to play.

More details:
Teddy B. is a great car rider, very calm. He’s good on lead, too; he’ll try to walk off, but will correct himself when he feels the leash pulling.  He loves to play ball!  Sometimes he brings it back and sometimes he growls at it and throws it around in the air himself. Really cute to watch! He's very good at amusing himself.  When the Roomba was running, he tried and tried to get it to play with him!

He was scared of the baby pool at first, but once he got in, he loved it and wouldn't get out. He's great in the house and loves being inside, so much so that once he does his business, he’s the first one back to the door. He wants to be with the people. He’s great and cooperative with being groomed; he had a tick infestation when he arrived, and when I checked him all over he just went limp and let me roll him over and over like he was a stuffed animal.

Teddy Bear has a wonderful, gentle Golden personality.  Very sweet, very smart, very loving.  There’s still a lot of puppy in him;  when he runs, he looks like a cartoon dog, very uncoordinated!  He's really intelligent, he listens when I talk to him and has already learned some new manners.  If he thinks he's in trouble, he gets an Eeyore look on his face, so cute. He’ll be the best dog ever in a social family who’s around during the day and has an energetic, playful dog to be his pal.
