Yet another nice Golden
nobody was looking for…
Five-year-old Hank was
found running loose after a brief thunderstorm, covered with mud and burs,
dehydrated—but willing to come immediately to the concerned family who saw him
in the road. They had him scanned
for a chip (no chip) and posted him on Craigslist, clinic bulletin boards, the
neighborhood list serve… no response. And so—bathed, trimmed, and restored to
the handsome fellow he is—Hank came to GRR.
The phrase that describes Hank best is “People Dog”! He loves people of all ages and is completely sweet to everyone he meets. He doesn’t have much interest in other dogs—and in fact, he’s pretty cranky at first meeting to any dog he hasn’t met before. His foster mom says, “Hank would do best as an only dog or with a submissive, soft-tempered dog in the home. My Julep is pretty submissive and he seems to be adjusting to her and even is initiating some play. I just think he has some rough edges that need smoothing over.
He really is a sweet boy,
just a little gruff with other pups.” This is something we’ll have plenty of
time to work on as he goes through heartworm treatment over the next couple of
months.
Though he’s a Golden for
sure, Hank howls like a hound dog.
He is verbal and seems to try to “talk” when excited. It’s pretty cute!
Hank is set for his first
heartworm injection on July 18th, and we will keep you posted on his
progress.
