Blueberry

Updated 4/21/11

Blueberry has been matched to her forever home and is not available, but be on the lookout for more like her!

“She’s an amazing dog. Really, I can’t exaggerate what a pleasure she is to foster! I look forward to coming home and greeting her. Her new family is very, very lucky.”

Yes, 4-year-old Blueberry has it all! As happens so often with our shelter dogs, we wonder how  such a lovely little dog came to be lost and how it is that her owners didn’t come looking for her. She has that petite, light-boned build (just around 41 pounds) that so many people like. She’s a super car rider, just lies down quietly. She enjoys grooming. She knows how to walk well on lead. She adores children; the family who first found her wandering  stray reported that she was fantastic with their kids, and her foster mom confirms it: “Took her to my 4-year-old nephew’s football game and she interacted with kids of all ages, including a baby barely walking who loved all over her and Blueberry was exceptionally patient and gentle. She’s a dream with kids.”

She’s great with other dogs; seems to enjoy just “checking in” with them by nuzzling or kissing and then going about her business. She is not playful but she doesn’t seem to mind doggie company.

Blueberry  is perfectly housetrained; in fact, “I’m not sure this dog could be any more wonderful in the house. Calm and gentle, she follows us from room to room and lies down wherever we are. She doesn’t bark, she doesn’t chew, she’s trustworthy. She sleeps through the night in her crate. So quiet we could almost forget she’s here. Perfect.”

Blueberry  does dislike loud noises, so she’ll do best in a fairly quiet home without too much activity and commotion. She just wants to be near her humans and hang out. But she likes a good walk and going for drives. She would be fine with kids, dogs, and cats or alone. “She’s just sweet, sweet. Any family who can appreciate her is fine with Blueberry!”
