Vanilla

Updated 4/17/11

Vanilla-bean.  Nilla.  Nilla-bean.  Nillie.  Nilla-wafer.  And of course, Zoom-zoom.

This cute little 6-month-old girl has earned a bunch of nicknames this past week!

Vanilla came to us from points south as a stray. We’ re not sure how she started life, but you can see that she has several scars around her muzzle.  We can only guess that perhaps someone wired her mouth shut—maybe to keep her from barking?  maybe to keep her from giving kisses?  We’ll never know for certain.

But thankfully, that didn’t do a thing to dampen her spirits!

Vanilla is an active young gal, still in that puppy-growing stage, where her legs are longer than the rest of her, her ears are longer than her face, and her paws look like dinner plates compared to the rest of her not-quite-keeping-up-yet  body.  Yep, she has that goofy-puppy-growth-spurt look about her, which makes her so adorable.

She gets along wonderfully with her uncle and aunties, who range in ages from 7 to 10.  She plays appropriately with them and minds her manners when they tell her they've had enough.   This is a live-and-let-live kind of girl, with no aspirations of being the Queen Bee.

She has some other wonderful items on her puppy resume:

* Housebroken
* Knows that she needs to head outside to potty after each meal
* Willingly takes to the crate without fussing
* Does not shred clothes or shoes  (ok, in the interest of truth, she DOES shred woobies!)
* Does not beg for food, but lies down quietly during human mealtimes
* Loves to cuddle while watching TV, or while you read a book, or when you're on the    computer, or when ... well, you get the idea!
* Bonds very closely with her humans - she will be your shadow, quite literally!

Like any puppy, she'll need to refine some of her skills, too. She would benefit from going to obedience classes (she's a fast learner!) or in working one-on- one on basic obedience  with that special someone or family who adopts her.

This zoom-zoom girl is just waiting for a forever home to call her own!
