Poppy

Updated 4/21/11

Poppy has been matched to her forever home and is not available, but be on the lookout for more like her!

Poppy and her brother Nutty are a pair of beautiful 4-year-olds who came to GRR when their owner found himself facing serious medical issues. He had to move from a big ranch property (ideal for big dogs) to a city apartment (not so ideal…)—and it was one of those high-speed surrenders, as we got the hotline call just a few days before the move. Luckily, a GRR family lives nearby and was able to scoop up the delightful duo, keep them overnight, and then take them to the vet for a check-up while we hunted up foster homes.  The initial report could not have been better: “OMG!!! Heads up—these 2 will not be in foster care long.  They are both gorgeous. A little overweight, but coats look good and they have beautiful teeth, believe it or not! Very well behaved; very social, friendly, love to give kisses. Not a single growl or bark and were instantly accepted by our pack of five. Everyone is getting along so well!”

Poppy’s foster mom says:

Poppy  is calm and cuddly and likes to be petted. What a cute tail wag she has! And at the least invitation she rolls right on her back, ready for a tummy rub.

Right now, Poppy is a little plump and out of shape. We can tell she hasn’t had many walks, as she isn’t leash trained and goes all over the place, but we know she will soon get it all figured out. And luckily, she LOVES to swim—great exercise.

Poppy doesn’t need to be crated and is trustworthy left alone. She is a follower and plays well with other dogs. And she’s great with kids—especially if sticky hands are involved!

In a word, she’s perfect! What a lucky family that gets Poppy.
