Guinness

Updated 4/7/11

How would you feel if your owner dropped you off at the Vet for boarding for a couple of days and never came back to pick you up?  Pretty lousy, probably.  But Guinness is making the best of a bad situation.  He set about winning everyone’s heart, so they would take him out more often and spend a little more time with him.  Given his winning personality, that wasn’t too hard for him to do.

We don’t know much about Guinness’s history, but we do know that he is only one and a half years old and he loves to play.  Since he’s been in a kennel for weeks, we know that he is kennel of crate trained and that he is housebroken.  He hasn’t shown any aggression toward any of the other dogs.  He loves to be groomed, bathed, and touched.  In fact, he’s been known to just lie on the floor and let the veterinary staff pour on the LOVE.

Guinness is a happy, healthy, energetic, friendly, typical teenage Golden Retriever.  He likes to chase a ball, but hasn’t been taught to bring it back.  He’s quite delightful and quite the lover boy.

He has a lot of excess energy from being cooped up too long, but, even so, he settles down fairly quickly.  He can go from being Mr. Mellow to Mr. Jumping Bean in the flash of an eye.  He gets excited outside and runs in large circles and then wants to play.  He has figured out how to play with himself by throwing a stick in the air and then running after it.  When on a leash, he pulls a lot, so he will definitely need some leash training.

He is really quite an entertaining guy.  He likes to try to catch water coming out of the hose.  He likes to eat watermelon.  He loves to go belly up in the grass.  He’s just a happy-go-lucky teenager who hasn’t learned yet to control his urges.  He’s a fast learner though, so we can expect constant improvement every day.

Once Guinness gets into a home with people, dogs, children, and attention, he’s sure to bring along happiness and fun.  He’s truly a beautiful dog, inside and out!  Stay tuned for updates from his foster home.
