“Owner moved into a duplex and couldn’t take her. She is really friendly. Inquisitive and curious. Will come and lean against you. Hair is really short as if it has been cut? Hard to get good pix because she is always on the move! Are you interested? I think they said she was already spayed. If so, she can travel this weekend.”

That was the note dashed off by one of our shelter-contact friends from points south, and just a few days later Casey (who turned four years old on February 11) arrived in Austin. “Absolute dream girl,” said the transport team approvingly. “Lovely blondie. Rode very well in the car all the way into town.”
In foster care, Casey has proved to be quite an easy guest! She is totally housebroken and reliable when left home alone. Sleeps through the night just fine in her crate or on the couch. This lanky gal DOES have quite the powerful pull on lead, so needs more work on that score—but she will be more than happy to get more practice, because this dog loves exercise! She especially likes to run, run, run on open land when her foster family takes her to visit the in-laws. She enjoys retrieving, but needs a little persuasion when it comes to giving up her prize for another throw. She knows SIT and looks forward to learning many more commands, too.
Casey has been to the beauty parlor, “and the groomer just loved her.” Like many Goldens, she has a tendency to get dirty ears, so regular ear-cleaning is an important part of her “maintenance” routine.
Casey’s foster mom says she’d do best with “marshmallow” dogs or no other dogs (she can be huffy if provoked), older kids (because she does tend to jump up some times, and she is a tall girl), and an active family (of course!). “Casey is a sweetheart!”
