Bo Jingles

Updated 1/5/11

It’s a typical story for a young rescue Golden… adopted by one family who found him too much to handle (“He jumps around too much,” “He keeps getting out of the property,” etc.), dropped off at the shelter, adopted by an elderly couple who also found him too energetic, bounced back to the shelter again… that’s a lot of change for a dog to handle.  Poor Bo probably felt like he was stuck in a set of revolving doors!

On his latest exit from the shelter, though, he landed in a GRR foster home… and we hope his NEXT home is that “third time’s a charm” family who will keep him forever. Interestingly, his foster mom hasn’t found him to be a Wild Child at all! Maybe he just needed to live indoors and get some more attention. She says:

Bo Jingles is not only a handsome boy, he’s a big love-bug too. He will follow me around and await any oportunity to gain some lovin’.  Loves to be stroked and will quickly melt to the floor& roll belly-up for a tummy-rub. At the same time he is very attuned to my schedule.  He will stick his head under the covers in the morning to see if I am awake; if I am not ready to get up, I can just roll over and ignore him.  He will then quietly lie back down and await a cue from me.  If I am doing yoga and don't want to be disturbed, I can tell him to go lie down.  He will wait in the hallway till I am done.  He knows not jump on the couch or bed; he’s a gentle soul that just wants to please.

Bo loves to nap on his doggie bed.  While he is awake he loves to play ball with himself, throwing a tennis ball up in the air and catching it on a bounce . Clever dog!  Always ready for a walk on the leash, he is learning to wait at the front door until he hears “OK” before bolting out.  Walking on a leash seems to be a new expeience for Bo!  He is a very strong guy and is learning to heel...well, the idea is there.  He is generally friendly towards any other dog that he encounters along the way.   Whenever there is a cat in view, though, he is ready for the chase. (NOTE: Bo should NOT go to a cat home. He was an all-outside “farm dog” at his very first home, and he thinks cats and squirrels belong in the same category: Things to Be Pursued and Captured!)

Bo thinks that anyone that comes to visit is here to love on him:) He is very attentive to anyone who walks through the door.  He is polite , though—he rarely jumps up on anyone and responds really well to "Go lie down."  He takes correction easily and  is very responsive.   He will now wait for the cue to come back inside before running in from the backyard.  If it is wet outside, Bo waits to have his feet wiped.  He actually waits inside the door to be released!

This mellow guy is around to love and be loved.  He is a quick learner and here to please. A most amazing dog to have around:)
