Kaelani

Kaelani… her name means “celestial” in Hawaiian, and this girl really does have a heavenly disposition. She is sweet, gentle and loving; laidback and easygoing.  She’s had pups in the past, and her personality reflects that of a caring and loving momma.  When greeting guests, she lies on her back almost immediately, asking you for a nice belly scratch with this funny, “talking dog” voice. In fact, she loves to talk and uses her hilarious “talking” voice when she is excited, wants a ball that is out of reach, or wants to go outside. 

Lani, as we call her (and she responds well to the name, too), loves to play with our 10- and 12-year-old children and 5-year-old Golden.  Like all Goldens, she’s usually waiting right next to you for attention, love, and interaction.  She likes to sleep on the floor next to your bed. Sometimes she’s a bit too good of a watchdog, though – she’s alert to  the night creatures coming through the preserve next door to our house, and occasionally wants to go outdoors in the wee hours to investigate look for deer and othercritters.

Kaelani likes to carry balls, socks, and assorted laundry that might be left lying around by her lazy foster family. She’ll improve your housekeeping, because if you are not careful, you will soon have an assortment of socks in your backyard or might even find your favorite undergarment chewed!  If only she would learn to fold the laundry and place it neatly in the drawers!

This sweet gal is a gem of a dog! Very low maintenance and loving. The more attention she gets, the better she likes it, of course; but she fits in great with our busy family—two working parents, two kids, and too many after-school activities, so that we often finding ourselves coming home, dropping our things, eating, playing a bit with the dogs, then running back out the door for a sporting event.

Kaelani is a bit chubby, so she’d flourish in a home where she could get in several good walks a day—and now that the weather is finally getting cool and beautiful, what better time to start up that new walking programme… especially if you can do it with a brand-new, wonderful Golden walking partner?
