Oscar

Oscar showed up stray one day in a neighborhood—no collar, just a leash looped around his neck as if he’d been tied out with it. A kind lady found him and decided to help, but unfortunately her own dogs weren’t too thrilled about a visitor pooch, so she couldn’t keep him in her house or even in her yard. For a few days he just hung out on the porch, but  she was really worried about him not being contained anywhere.  We were too! We got him to the shelter with the all-important “hold for rescue” placard on his kennel – and when no owner turned up, Oscar came to GRR. His foster dad’s report:

Here's some photos of Oscar.  We've had him one week.  He loves people and is very anxious for attention (after all his moving around, he is a bit insecure). Here's the good and the naughty:

The good:

* In our humble opinion he is one of the prettiest goldens we've ever seen.  He's shorter than most males, has a stocky build and is about 4 years old with no health problems.

* He's 100% reliable in the house (no accidents).

* No dog aggression and is slowly becoming one of our pack.

* He has learned not to chase the cats—for three reasons: he's not allowed to chase them; my cats don't run; and my son's cats will smack his nose if he challenges them!

* He knows the meaning of NO and will stop doing what he's doing instantly if told “no.”

* He is learning commands!  He hasn't been trained to do anything.  We're working on SIT and a few other simple things.

* He is a total cuddle bug.  He will snuggle with anyone who will snuggle with him and would love to sleep in bed with his master… we don't let him, of course :-)

The naughty:  Oscar will mouth hands that are not petting him.  He will sleep on furniture if not watched and scolded.  He is a counter surfer if there's something yummy on the counter.  He hauled a shoe (old one, fortunately) out of the closet and destroyed it before we realized what he was doing.

The issue:  We need a home for Oscar soon, because we're falling in love with him.  He's an absolute doll!
