Paddy

Update:03/21/10

He versus She…

A slight “slip-up” with regards to gender identification occurred,  and our sweet lad is in fact a sweet lassie! The vet was shaking her head – “how did we miss this?!”

But anyway… Paddy-O (or maybe more appropriately named, Patty-O) is blossoming!  Of course, this is Spring and no one should be surprised.

Paddy now signals when she wants to go potty outdoors. But remember, she is only 3 months old, so a full bladder  can only wait so long for someone to notice.

She went for a walk along Town Lake today, along with her  “mom” GRR Tequila.  She was quite the attraction—at least a dozen-plus  walkers stopped us, wanting to give some love to this sweet, fuzzy girl.  She really is a hoot—if you say “what a good girlie,” she'll put on a smile a mile wide and twist her head from side to side, as if to say, “Of course I am!  What took you so long to notice?!”

She’s a real gem. She now sleeps right through the night (no more 2 AM  wee-wee  wake-up calls).  She loves on everyone she meets, human & dog alike.    Her playmates are 6-, 8- and 10-year-old GRR Goldens, and they all love her.  If  they catch a wild hare, she'll engage; if they want to just “chill,” she’s ready to just chill with them.

She is so waiting for her forever family. As her foster mom says, she’s a peach, and anyone who adopts her will be more than rewarded and thrilled to have her sweet and bubbly nature enter their home!

Though it might be a-gettin' to be that time for the wearin' of the green,  this young lad is thinking that gold may be the color we should all be wearin'!

Paddy-O is a sweet wee leprechaun who will steal yer heart for certain! He reminds me so of an old Irish toast:

May you have all the happiness

And luck that life can hold—

And at the end of all your rainbows

May you find a pot of gold.

He's a sweet young lad, about 3 months old, who's still searchin' for his very own pot of gold—that is, a family to call for his very own. Here at the Gold-n-Duck Pub (er, Foster Home), he gets along famously with his brothers and sisters, where they share in many a pint of cool, spring water (now, now,  he's far too young to be sharin' in pints of Guiness, ya know!). He has that live-and-let-live  attitude we’d all love to have: he'll gladly share his toys and bones and biscuits with all of his kinfolk. Not a bad word has he to spare.

This poor, dear lad was found wandering, a definite wild rover if you know what I mean. Luckily, he was soon taken under GRR’s wing, and is working on learning some new leprechaun-like tricks, including how to potty outdoors, and how to get over being timid (ahhh, he sometimes gets so bashful, you'd think he was a young and shy bonnie lass!).

But the rest he has down pat.

Do you need a fellow to tell your wild yarns to? He's your lad. Do you need a fellow to go exploring with? Again, he's your boy. Do you need someone to offer you a good laugh at the end of the day? My, he'll offer you that a-plenty! And he even entertains us with a song every now and then, one I'd like share (with respect to the originator of the lyrics):

But now I've returned with gold in great store,

And I never will play the wild rover no more.

And it's no, nay, never

No, nay, never, no more,

Will I play the rover

No never, no more!
