Comanche
Found running stray, curly Comanche seemed almost relieved when Animal Control apprehended him – he jumped right into the truck. “Nice, friendly, solid dog,” said everyone, and soon the cheerful boy was pulling into the vet clinic. Neuter and check-up were completely routine, but once he arrived at his foster home… well, there’s just no telling what a dog can pick up when he’s out on his own, fending for himself, sleeping rough, eating whatever he can find—and it soon became clear that whatever bug Comanche had been exposed to was making itself known. He felt terrible. Diarrhea, high fever, vomiting, runny nose—the poor fellow went right back to the doctor’s office and spent a few days getting fluids, blood tests, X-rays, you name it. Best guess? “A virus, we think.” The good news is that he’s on the road to recovery—playing with tennis balls, eating with a good appetite again, and learning all about being a house dog:
Kids, other dogs—he loves them all! He’s a little shy and timid for now, but he'll blossom with more exposure to different things & as he returns to good health. He plays very gently with the other dogs, and makes a funny half-chomp with his mouth when he’s excited. He’s super in the crate as long as he has “crate company” (another dog crated alongside) – otherwise he barks & cries a bit.
Comanche sleeps right through the night—although his choice of “bedroom” can be funny: he likes sleeping in our walk-in shower! He isn’t quite there on his housetraining yet, but he’s definitely improving and has even done well loose in the house for short periods.
As soon as we’re positive he’s back in excellent health, he’ll be ready to find his perfect new family.
