Lucky

Lucky (#01-108) died 3-31-2011 after 10 wonderful years with our family.  Lucky came to us when our children were afraid of dogs.  Our previous dog had been aggressive toward my girls' friends so when it turned out that Lucky never met anyone he didn't love it was like a cool drink on a hot day.  Lucky wanted to be everyone's friend.  Anyone who came through the door, our cats, our neighbors cats, the neighborhood dogs and a couple of horses were all counted among his friends.  We had to tell him it was okay to chase squirrels.  I'm pretty sure he thought they were cats which you definitely did NOT chase.

Most of all Lucky loved babies.  If there was a baby in the house he would lay somewhere near it and wait for the inevitable encounter.  Then he would just lay there and let the baby crawl all over him.  Whisker grabs were the limit but that would just prompt him to move a bit.

One day we noticed he was having trouble standing up.  We expected the usual late life hip issues but it was something else and went from bad to worse.  Finally he fell in the yard one afternoon and could not get up.

Michele Stange of Cornerstone Veterinary Clinic was as heart broken as we were when the end came.  We will always miss him.

I apologize for not writing sooner.  We were very attached to our goofy boy and his death was a real blow to our whole family.  I really couldn't write about him until now.  It's been over a year now and we are finally ready to consider another adoption.

best regards,
