Sissy

Updated 12/8/10

Gentle, petite, sociable, calm, polite, and still utterly beautiful at age 14, Sissy is a perfect lady. The quiet life is the life for her, but she does adore taking a slow ride in the car—you can just see her waving a white-gloved paw to the adoring public—and taking short walks (she really perks up when that leash comes out). In her youth, she’d fetch the ball but not return it, but she hasn’t yet got around to playing ball in her foster home. It’s entirely possible she might like to meander after a gently rolled tennis ball, though.

She’s crate trained, but really! Why bother to crate such a flawlessly behaved lady? She is totally trustworthy.

Sissy enjoys other dogs & prefers to have at least one dog with her.  In fact, we’d say she MUST have another dog or dogs for company. She doesn’t play, but she likes being near other dog friends; it makes her feel happy and secure. Cats are fine, too… she can take them or leave them. And she loves to hang out near her human pals as they work in the office, cook supper, and so on. She’s very social in her quiet way.

Sissy has the very softest fur imaginable, but one thing she really doesn’t care for is grooming! She strolls away when you try to brush her, and though she puts up with baths, you can tell she is just thinking, “when will this be over?!”  We figure that just a few strokes of the brush per day may make her more agreeable to the beauty parlor.

Though she’s very slim and petite, Sissy looooves to eat & has a great appetite. It’s very cute how excited she gets at mealtimes! She especially likes (small amounts of) vegetable beef soup, turkey & gravy, pumpkin pie (no crust), orange slices...and pretty much anything we offer her. When she finishes, she meanders around the other dogs with no problems.  (We do not feed her anything with wheat or corn or chemicals, as she does have allergies.)

This lovely old gal would do well with a quiet family who appreciates all the quiet affection and companionship that senior Goldens have to offer. She truly is a gem.
