Morgan 10-062Morgan

Morgan 10-062It’s not everyone who is already a world traveler at the age of 4, but Morgan is! Born in Germany (with the pedigree papers to prove it), he travelled to the US as an infant. He lived with a family in North-Central Texas—until a divorce separated Mom & Dad and landed the family dogs at the shelter. Luckily, the staff has GRR on their speed dial, so no sooner had Morgan been ushered into his kennel than the call came in to our Hotline: “We had a Golden Retriever surrendered to us, age four, neutered male.  The owner told us that he has had no training, but he sat for me when I asked him to. Owner said that he is great with children, and will tolerate cats after he gets to know them. Can you help?”

Volunteer Pat motored out the very next day and commented, “Handsome guy,  kind of shell shocked…VERY shy at first and refused a treat. But after about 10 minutes, he warmed up just fine. Relaxed, got interested in me, interested in other people in the room. Before too long we were buds and he was happy to have me rub his tummy. He’s just kind of stressed by the circumstances.” Poor Morgan had to wait it out for a few more days, but at last April 21 arrived – and it was out the door, on the road, a quick stop at the clinic (heartworm negative – yay!), and then into his foster home.

Updates to follow as he settles in…
