Harvey

Our beloved Harvey (aka Duke III) went to play in that big dog park in the sky on August 10, 2010. Harv was three months shy of his 16th birthday. He was a special needs doggie suffering from acute separation anxiety when he came to GRR in 2000 at age 6. So severe that he'd chewed his hind leg to the bone. Cam, his foster parent at GRR, tenderly treated his wound and passed along valuable caring instructions. Bruce and Marie became his adoptive parents and with much love he healed. Harv was a constant companion and shared many adventures to Mexico and to other parts of America. In 2006, he moved to the UK. The cooler, damp climate there suited this long, tall Texan and the English doggies loved his drawling bark. He was a handsome gentle giant and always brought a smile to others. So, so fortunate to have shared his life his passing leaves a giant hole in Bruce and Marie's hearts.

An honest 'dog' here lies at rest,
The friend of man, the friend of truth,
The friend of age, and guide of youth:
Few hearts like his, with virtue warm'd,
Few heads with knowledge so inform'd;
If there's another world, he lives in bliss;
If there is none, he made the best of this.

Robert Burns
